Gettin' Ziggy With It

A while back, some very funny person whose name escapes me attempted to prove (successfully) that New Yorker cartoons were inane by demonstrating that they're just as funny if they are all given the exact same caption. It was a great bit of intellectual humor. I thought that I would try to prove this same theory with the most inane comic I can think of...Ziggy. Witness the depantsing of Tom Wilson's blight on the comics page, Ziggy.

Ziggy really is an asshole. Honestly.

Oooo!

Oooo!

Can you make fun of Garfield too? Jeeze I hate Garfield.

And if you get the Sunday paper, there's always that one 'serious' cartoon in it, like it's some sort of Dick Tracy or soap opera thing. Who reads those anyways? Haven't they heard of TV?

I hate the serious comics. What the hell are those about?

Also, Ziggy is definitely no Dilbert.

One time, someone I barely knew at a party was telling a group of people how Ziggy, .."represents the innocence and bla..blah blah". Some BS. Without thinking, I heard that and turned to him in a rage, "Oh shut the hell up! That's the biggest piece of crap I've ever heard". All went silent.

Thank you for inspiring me to adopt "Christ, what an asshole" into my daily repertoire of sayings.

Now if only I wasn't a preschool teacher...

The blasphemy in the last one slays me.

I'm with Poobomber. That fucking Garfield needs to get run over by a bus. Throw Heathcliff, Marmaduke and Nancy under it while you're at it.

Oh, I join in the chorus of boos for Garfield. I even have the shame of working on the freaking movie! But someone has skewered Garfield better than I ever could:

Coincidentally, I'm discovering this tonight and tomorrow morning is when Smokey gets euthanized.

It's still funny.
